What a night!

Last night, we went to hang out with our friend Nathan, who recently moved back into town. We also went out to dinner with our friend Barbara and her boyfriend, Nick. After dinner, Nathan, Aaron, and I headed off to go back to Nathan's place, but not before a quick trip to the liquor store for the boys.

We're in Eden Prairie, a suburb I'm only familiar with because I worked there for three months in the mall. Aaron's giving me directions to the store, and saying I need to turn left, and I should have gotten in the other lane (which, if he'd told me that a few seconds earlier, I could have gotten in the left turn lane). Instead, I'm in a straight only lane. But Aaron still thinks I can turn left. After all, there's two lanes to turn into, and no oncoming traffic to collide with. So the light turns green, and we turn left. Nathan is in the back seat, looks behind us, and says, "Well, the car behind us turned left, too, so it must be okay!" So we're zipping along, and at the last second, Aaron tells me I need to get in the right turn lane, and follow this other car. I had to veer over there pretty quickly in order to make the turn, and as I turn onto the new road...red and blue lights start flashing behind me.

HooooooooBOY was I mad! I pull over immediately, and so does the cop. That car that turned left at the light behind me? The cop. He said he pulled me over for an illegal lane change at the light, as it was a straight lane, and something about me getting in the turning lane seemed a little off (in other words, I probably looked like a drunk driver). I explained that Aaron was giving me directions, and told me to turn at the last second. He takes my license and insurance - everything checks out, and he gives me a warning. While he's in his cruiser running everything, I start yelling at Aaron. He always gives me directions at the last second! I am constantly having to practically SWERVE to get into the next lane because of the last second directions. Drives me crazy.

Some days, he's really good. Most days, he's not paying attention. Sometimes when I ask if I need to turn or do this or that, he tells me no, I only need to turn when he tells me to turn, otherwise, go straight, which is what I was doing.

Oh, I was just so mad at him. I didn't get a ticket, thank goodness, and thank goodness I hadn't had anything to drink at dinner before we left. It was just stupid and irritating.

Aaron suggested maybe getting a GPS for me, but that seems to be helpful only when you know specific addresses, and for this situation, Aaron just knew where the place was, not the address.

I'm hoping this will get him paying attention more when we're driving. Yeah, I should know directions, too, but he's just better at it, and that's the way it's always been. Plus, I'd only been to that liquor store once, and it was likely over a year ago. No way I was going to remember how to get there.

So that is my rant for the night.

In other words, I am feeling better, physically, although I still have the horrible cough, and now some sinus issues, but I will definitely be ready for work tomorrow morning, and the rest of the week. Last week, we had Monday off for the holiday, I took Wednesday off, half of Thursday off, and all of Friday. I worked a total of 12 hours - no good. I'm going to be SO busy tomorrow. Ugh.
